At Westside Christian College we are committed to preparing and equipping our young people for life in a rapidly changing, complex and often volatile world.
We take a holistic approach to education that is grounded in a Christian worldview, to develop not only a strong knowledge and technical foundation but curiosity, creativity and life-long learning capability; not only critical thinking and problem-solving skills but good character, an ethical framework and a strong sense of identity and purpose.
We have been designed for life in community. As such, we want our young people to be people of influence who are articulate and proficient at working with others. We seek to develop a high level of collaborative and communication skills, including in the digital environment through the responsible use of technology.
We want our students to be leaders who bring blessing to their families, work places and communities. These capabilities are developed throughout life and learning at Westside, including through the co-curricular and outdoor education programs, and formal service and leadership opportunities.
What’s the point of having all the knowledge and skill in the world if you don’t know how to care for others? We want our young people at Westside to be kind, welcoming and gracious, with hearts for developing and using their God-given gifts, talents and capabilities in service to others.
Our Westside staff are intentional about broadening students’ horizons to develop empathy toward, understanding of, and respect for others in our diverse local, national and global communities. It is our hope that their love and care for others would be a light in the community that testifies to the love and goodness of God.
I so enjoy coming to school each day. There’s such a sense of belonging here. I love finding the gold in each student, and drawing that out.Taryn Behr, Teacher
